Orillia Minor Hockey

“For many years while President of Orillia Minor Hockey I had been looking for ways to ensure politics and favoritism do not enter into selection of players for our representative teams. I wanted to ensure the right players were selected based on skill. For the 2nd year in a row Orillia Minor Hockey has hired South Simcoe Hockey School to select our representative players from Novice to Midget. Alex, Steve, and others, have ensured we picked the right players for each team without bias. The first year we hired South Simcoe Hockey eight of our teams finished the regular season in the top three. This is quite an accomplishment. We credit this to the unbiased expertise of South Simcoe Hockey. Tryouts are a tough time for organizations. Everyone wants to ensure the players are selected because of their skill. We can ensure you there are no politics when you hire South Simcoe Hockey School. They are qualified, professional, dedicated, committed and go out of their way to accommodate. We have been impressed with the work they have done for us and would not hesitate to recommend them to any other hockey association looking to select players for their representative teams”.

Barrie Sharks House League Development: ”I just wanted to thank you for setting up the great development sessions for us with the South Simcoe Hockey School. Alex and Steve were a great resource and I learned a lot from them – not just new drills, but what we should be emphasizing in the drills and the key teaching points – they really took the time to explain why we were doing specific drills to the coaches. As a new coach this was really valuable to me and I think I learned just as much from the sessions as the girls. They really made the most of the time we had and I’m looking forward incorporating what I’ve learned into our practices. I really hope this is an initiative you’ll keep going, particularly at the Novice level where both the girls and the coaches tend to be new! Kate Gee (Head Coach – Novice HL Gold) Feb 6th 2017”

“Dear Alex and Steve, On behalf of the Township of Springwater, I would like to thank you both for your service this summer. The day camp participants always looked forward to their “on-ice time” throughout the week at Hockey Camp. It was great to be able to provide them with a proper “skills and drills” portion, where small groups and repetition were utilized. I appreciate your advice, comments and support this summer. We have heard nothing but amazing feedback about the coaching you provided for both our Hockey Camp and One-Hour Hockey Development Program. Thank you for partnering with us this summer and I look forward to seeing you over our March Break Hockey Camp.” Tayler Dennys Project Manager of Camps Township of Springwater, September 7th, 2016

“I just wanted to let you know that Alessio made the AE team this year. The final decision was made last night. There are 7 new kids (including Alessio) along with 8 returning players. It was a tough try-out and all the kids played really well. I want to thank you and your South Simcoe coaching staff for the great work you did in prepping the kids. Alessio really did enjoy the prep camp, as did Matteo. See you at the rink! Thanks again” Tony Bitonti, May 2016

“Totally impressed with the progress Nicholas has made after attending the South Simcoe Hockey camp this past summer. He’s received comments from past coaches and parents on how much his skills have developed. Thanks for your dedication to the kids. It has really built Nick’s confidence in the game.”  Susan Livermore, September 2012

“On behalf of the 1st Stroud and 1st Alcona Cub Packs (in Scouts Canada), thank you very much for the lesson South Simcoe Hockey provided for us. The instructors were very professional in providing a great learning experience, while having fun. Thanks to your assistance and the program you developed for us, the Cubs were thrilled to earn their skating badges. Even within the large group, the Cubs were able to recieve individual attention and learn some tips on improving their skating.  Thanks again!”  Kevin Ashby 1st Stroud Cub Pack, March 2009

“Thanks for a great experience, I know the boys looked forward to the school and had lots of fun.  Improvement in their skills was noticed, in fact I think they were having more fun at the school than their regular practices at times. It was nice to see them together on the ice as well. You guys were great with the boys.” Douglas McEwen, November 2007
